Local Government & Planning Matters

​A very substantial percentage of the work done in our litigation department relates to municipal and planning matters. Although we primarily represent municipalities in such matters, we also accept instructions from other clients where there is no conflict of interest. The services rendered in this regard include :

• Interpretation and enforcement of town planning schemes and related legislation
• Appeals and judicial reviews relating to council resolutions and other decisions taken on behalf of local authorities, including appeals to the Town Planning Appeals Board and the Provincial Planning and Development Commission
• Expropriation claims and disputes
• Valuation appeals
• General advice
